Blue Star Museums offer free admission to participating museums for active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve all summer long.

Military Veterans with 40% or more service-related disability who are residents of New York State qualify for $5 fishing, hunting or trapping license. If you purchase one license, you get the other two free.

The "Thank A Vet" discount program allows eligible veterans to receive an I.D. Card identifying them as an honorably discharged Veteran. Participating county businesses have agreed to honor the card by providing the holder with a discount on purchases or services.

Under the Monroe County Veterans Discount Card Program, honorably discharged Veterans will be issued an identification card by the county that identifies them as a Veteran. Participating county merchants have agreed to honor this card by providing these individuals with discounts on purchases or services, or some other special offer. Individuals in the reserves or currently on active duty will be able to present their military identification cards to participating merchants and will receive these same discounts.

 A free lifetime Military Pass is available for Gold Star Families and US military Veterans. A free annual Military Pass is available for current US military members and their dependents. The passes provide free access to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including national parks, wildlife refuges, and forests.

The Lifetime Liberty Pass allows qualified New York State Veterans and Gold Star Parents, Spouses, and Children discounted use of state parks, historic sites, and recreational facilities.

There are three different property tax exemptions available to Veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces: Alternative Veterans’ Exemption, Cold War Veterans’ Exemption, and Eligible Funds Exemption. The exemption applies to county, city, town, and village taxes.  Exemptions may apply to school district taxes.  Obtaining a Veterans exemption is not automatic – If you're an eligible Veteran, you must submit the initial exemption application form to your assessor.

Veterans are eligible for free bus passes through a partnership with RTS and the Veterans Outreach Center. The pass is good for 5 years and works on any RTS bus in Monroe, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, and Wyoming counties.
